Frequently Asked Questions
How do these stairs help my arthritic small dog feel better day to day?
By replacing the jarring impact of jumping off an 18-inch bed with four gentle foam steps, the stairs reduce stress on stiff hips, elbows, and shoulders, so your dog moves more comfortably throughout the day.
Will using these steps before bedtime help my senior cat settle into a deeper sleep?
When a senior cat can climb onto the bed or sofa on her own without pain, she is more likely to choose her favorite sleeping spot, which supports longer, more restful rest.
Can these stairs be part of my post-surgery pet's recovery plan?
Yes. The 4-step foam design lets a recovering pet access the bed and sofa independently while following veterinarian guidance to limit jumping during healing.
Does the soft foam surface feel gentle on a pet with sore paw pads?
The fleece-covered foam is cushioned and warm under paw, which is much more comfortable for pets with tender paw pads, paw injuries, or age-related sensitivity than hard wood or plastic steps.
Will my dog get more exercise by using the stairs instead of being carried?
Light, low-impact stair climbing is actually beneficial joint movement for small breeds, helping maintain muscle tone around the hips and rear legs without the harsh landing of a jump.
I want to build a calming bedtime routine for my small dog, do these stairs help?
Yes. When your dog can climb onto the bed on her own each night, it becomes a natural wind-down cue, and the foam stairs double as a cozy nap mat when folded flat.
Is this a good choice for a dog with hip dysplasia?
The 30D foam steps with a stable internal support board are a popular choice for dogs with hip dysplasia because they remove the repeated high-impact landings that aggravate the condition.
My cat had knee surgery, can she safely reach her favorite window perch with these?
Yes, the 4-step 18-inch height is suitable for most sofas and mid-height perches, and the soft foam steps are gentle enough for a healing knee.
How is this different from a stiff wooden ramp in terms of joint comfort?
Foam steps absorb each pawfall and provide a softer landing surface, while wood or plastic ramps can be slippery and transfer shock back into the joints.
Is a foam pet ramp better for joint health than a plastic one?
Foam tends to be easier on joints because it provides slight cushioning with each step and a non-slip fleece surface, whereas plastic can be slick and unforgiving on impact.
I am worried my dog is in pain when she jumps down, how will I know if the stairs help?
Many owners notice their dog hesitating less to get on and off the bed, choosing to nap there more often, and moving more freely in the morning once jumping is removed from the routine.
Will the foam flatten out over time and lose the joint support?
The 30D high-density foam with internal support board is engineered to hold its shape under the 35-pound weight limit, providing consistent support over years of regular use.
How do I set up the stairs when they arrive?
Unfold the foam structure, position the internal support board flat inside the foam core, then zip the fleece cover over the top. Place the stairs against the bed or sofa and your pet can start climbing within minutes.
How do I clean the fleece cover?
Unzip the cover from the foam core and machine wash it on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, then air dry or tumble dry low. The foam itself should be spot-cleaned only and allowed to air dry completely before reassembly.
How do I train my small dog to use the stairs?
Place a treat or favorite toy on the first step and praise your dog for any paw contact, gradually moving the reward up each step. Most small dogs and cats learn within one to three short sessions, and never force your pet up the steps.
Will these stairs fit a bed that is exactly 18 inches high?
Yes, the 4-step configuration is designed for 18-inch bed heights, and the 3-step suits 13.5-inch furniture while the 5-step covers 22.5-inch bed frames and taller sofas.
What is the maximum pet weight the stairs will support?
The stairs are rated for pets up to 35 pounds, which covers most small dog breeds and adult cats, with the internal support board preventing flex under that load.
What is included in the box?
The package includes the foam stair core with internal support board installed and one removable fleece cover in your selected color. Nothing else needs to be purchased separately for first use.
Is the foam safe if my pet chews or tears the cover?
The foam is non-toxic and pet-safe, but you should replace a torn cover quickly to prevent ingestion of foam pieces. Redirect chewing to appropriate toys and consider a pet-safe deterrent spray on the cover if needed.
Will the foam lose shape or compress over years of use?
The 30D high-density foam with internal support board is engineered to hold its shape within the 35-pound weight limit, and rotating the stairs occasionally helps even out wear.
What is the difference between foam pet stairs and a traditional wooden pet ramp?
Foam stairs break the climb into multiple shallow steps, which is easier on joints than the long incline of a ramp, and they are lighter, softer, fold into a bed, and available in more colors than most wooden ramps.
